Regina Bichler studied chemistry, biochemistry, and Japanese studies in Munich, Pavia, and Osaka. Her MSc thesis dealt with the analysis of a bacterial enzyme with the potential of producing carbohydrates for celiac disease patients and her BA thesis focused on the role of the “Open Air Museum of Old Japanese Farmhouses” in Toyonaka, Japan in the construction of local and national identity. After her graduation in 2018, she worked in a Japanese chemical company in translation and intercultural communication. She has joined the DFG Emmy-Noether Research Group “Hazardous Travels. Ghost Acres and the Global Waste Economy” under Dr. Simone M. Müller in April 2021.
